Party leader/cadre can claim only one post at a time, says UML leader Gyawali
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has decided not to appoint its candidates who had contested and lost in the local, provincial and federal elections, as National Assembly (NA) members.
A meeting of UML Central Secretariat held on Friday made the decision to this effect. Those members who were enlisted as the party's Proportional Representation candidates will not get the opportunity to make to the National Assembly.
Speaking to THT Online in this regard, Secretary of CPN-UML Pradeep Gyawali said, "Our standing committee meeting has a made a stand-by decision that a leader can claim only one layer or a post at one time."
"As far as other parties are concerned, it depends on how our task force allocates the seats or makes seat arrangements," UML leader Gyawali said on being asked about the other parties' that are likely to seek UML support to make it to the NA.
As per the decision of the meeting, only those who have had a long term affiliation with the party, are experts in various fields and have made significant contribution to various sectors while ideologically close to the party would be considered as appropriate candidates.
