UML's Nepal says party wishes to include NC in govt

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that his party was ready to bring Nepali Congress (NC) on board the new government if the latter was ready to implement the 16-point agreement struck among the major political parties earlier.

Speaking at a programme organised in the Capital today, leader Nepal also said that his party was ready to give right positions to the NC in the government in case the NC accepted its weaknesses and implemented past agreements as well.

Meanwhile, commenting on election of Onsari Gharti Magar to the post of Speaker, the former Prime Minister Nepal said that all people including women were happy to see a woman being elected as the Speaker of the House for the first time in Nepal's history.

"After some time, the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will also be held by a woman. It will be better if the position of President is also held by a woman and for that we are doing our best," he said.

Saying that the promulgation of the Constitution in an agreement of 90 per cent lawmakers is a good move, he expressed that the nation would move ahead in unity.

On the restrictions at Nepal-India border points, the UML leader said that the restrictions put faiths of Nepalis on Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in question.
