UN Day hope for greying population
Kathmandu, September 30:
The greying population in Nepal are set to come together for the United Nation’s International Day of Older People on October 1, under the banner Age Demands Action (ADA).
A delegation of the elderly will meet with the Prime Minister to highlight matters of concern. They will also seek government’s assistance for their physical and emotional well being. ADA is advocating formation of high-level senior citizens commission and also formulation of laws in accordance with the Senior Citizens Act.
“The elderly people have a vital contribution to make. Unfortunately this is undervalued. We get little social support as well,” Uttam Upreti, coordinator, ADA 2008, said today.
