Dahal says KP's time will be over should he not mend his ways

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 4

Leader of the Dahal-Nepal faction of Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, said on Thursday that a united movement against Oli-Government could be expected around the first week of Falgun (mid-February).

Speaking to media present in Pulchowk where Dahal was leading protests during the one-day General Strike, Dahal said that if Oli does not stand corrected, he will have to face a wave of new movement. "We are in talks will all sides. If KP does not mend his ways, his time is finished. There will be another massive, never-seen-before people's movement," he cautioned.

"The government's decisions that violate democratic and constitutional norms, one after the other, remind me of jungle regime."

Political parties, civil society, journalists, intellectuals, artists are all opposed to the government's disregard for the Constitution, and repeated attacks on federal republican democratic system, Dahal added.

He further questioned the government's motive behind holding rallies in its own favour at a time when the country is against it. "Oli organising rally in his favour is similar to the Panchas carrying out Pancha rallies during the Panchayat era," he quipped.

Dahal-Nepal called for the strike following the swearing in of constitutional bodies' appointees, bypassing parliamentary hearings, on Wednesday.
