UNMIN chief meets Dahal

KATHMANDU: UNMIN chief Karen Landgren met UCPN-Maoist president Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday morning at the latter’s residence in Nayabazar. The meeting concentrated on the Maoist protests.

Landgern inquired about the probable effects of the protest on the constitutional drafting process and the peace process of Nepal in the meet with Prachanda.

Prachanda replied that their protest is not against the constitutional drafting process. They only want the unconstitutional move of the President to be rectified. He opined that the government that made the unconstitutional move cannot make the actual constitution.

In the meet Landgren expressed concern over the objection by the ruling parties on the statement of Ban Ki-moon. Repeating the same statement she said that Nepal should establish a national unity government to find the way out of this transitional phase of the country.

She had recently returned to Nepal after participating in the UN Security Council meeting in New York. She had presented a draft about the Nepal peace process in the meet.
