KATHMANDU, APRIL 11

The massive wildfire that had erupted in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park in Budhanilkantha Municipality of Kathmandu, on Sunday afternoon has been brought under control.

The joint effort of personnel from the national park, Nepal Police, Nepali Army and Armed Police Force along with fire engines have brought the wildfire under control.

A Simrik Airlines helicopter was also used to spray water to douse the wildfire.

According to the authorities, the fire had erupted at around 11:00 am this morning.

The cause and the scale of loss consequential to the wildfire is yet to be ascertained.

The Kathmandu valley has been engulfed by smog as air pollution in the valley persistently remains at hazardous level owing to numerous wildfires among other reasons.
