KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 24

The Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children (HRDC) has been awarded a grant of USD 881,393 from the American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) office of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

"This generous gift from the American people will be facilitated through the American Himalayan Foundation (AHF – an US Organization), HRDC's principal long-time donor," the press release issued by the USAID Nepal said.

ASHA funds will enhance HRDC's capabilities through the acquisition of surgical equipment, enhancement of ward facilities, expansion of physiotherapy services, and re-equipping of its assistive device manufacturing workshop. Showcasing its environmentally-sustainable practices, HRDC will allocate some funds towards the construction of state-of-the-art new technology on waste management plants, the release further states.

"This partnership leverages innovative technology to improve the lives of Nepalese children with disabilities, demonstrates environmental stewardship through eco-friendly waste management solutions, and promotes gender-equitable, healthcare access in addressing access barriers in Nepal."
