Valentine’s Day: THT way

Kathmandu, February 13:

Valentine’s Day or Saint Valentine’s Day is an occasion celebrated on February 14. In West ern countries, it is a day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectioneries.

The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

We at The Himalayan Times give you five innovative ways to celebrate the day, and few ways to make yourself feel great if you are single and ready to mingle.

• Hire a generator and make your loved one feel special by providing electricity throughout the day and night. It is a sure shot at earning brownie points.

• Instead of flowers, take her to a botanical garden for a romantic stroll. It sure beats the heck out of buying flowers at such exorbitant prices. The flowers dry out in a few days in any case.

• It is obsolete but write your loved one a letter, in this age of technology you would be surprised how a handwritten letter has the desired effect.

• It may be the material age, but go old school and arrange a romantic candle lit dinner, imagine the amount of time you get to spend.

• Pack a nice picnic and head out of the hustle and bustle of the city for the day. Find a pretty and clean spot, drink your wine and enjoy the raw beauty the country has to offer.

For those of you who are single, don’t believe that there is only one day in a year to celebrate love. Love is something you need to feel, share and experience everyday.

• The first step to loving someone else is loving yourself.

Go love yourself treat yourself to a complete spa experience, not only relaxing but a great ego boost.

• Buy yourself that one expensive thing you have been saving for, life is short why wait.

• Play loud music, cook, have a nice hot soak in the tub, pop a bubbly, dance and watch the funniest movie ever made.

• Better still round up all your single friends, and go have a ball after all Valentines Day is about celebrating love why does it necessarily have to be exclusively romantic.

Happy Valentine’s Day.
