Valley fuel stations fail to comply with NOC orders

Kathmandu, February 26:

The Nepal Oil Corporation has specified the amount of petroleum to be sold for vehicles but people are still complaining that the petrol pumps are not selling the amount of fuel they have been told to.

The Nepal Oil Corporation, on Sunday, had issued a notice stating that the two-wheelers would get petrol worth a maximum of Rs 500, cars would get fuel worth up to Rs 1,000 and taxis up to Rs 1,500.

But, Bhavanath Simkhada, a staffer at the Ministry of Health and Population, said that he waited for hours to get the specified amount of fuel but the petrol pump did not provide him.

“Fuel stations have reduced the amount of petroleum they are distributing,” he said, adding that he had coupon but didn’t get enough fuel.

A Nepal Telecom staffer Ramchandra Mahat said the government is not in a mood to resolve the fuel crisis.

“I have been in the queue since early in the morning with a hope that I would get six litres of petrol but the petrol pump is now selling only two litres to a motorcycle. Two litres of petrol will be used up while moving in the queue,” joked Sankar Acharya, who was standing in a queue outside the Nepal Army-owned Ripumardini Petrol Pump, at Bhadrakali.

Manita Ranjit complained that she was forced to stand in the queue along with men and that the petrol station was not selling fuel as directed by the Nepal Oil Corporation
