Value of social sciences stressed

A panel discussion on 'Studies of Humanities and Social Sciences' was organised by Khwopa College in Bhaktapur yesterday, where scholars and experts discussed the importance of  studying various social sciences and highlighted its role in the  development of a nation.

Speaking at the programme, human rights activist Yogendra Man Bijukchhe said good leaders with the ability to manage the country's social sector can only be made through a focus on the study of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Bijukchhe said, "Fewer students are attracted to the field of social sciences than in other technical and practical fields, such as medicine and engineering. But in the real sense, study of social sciences can make leaders."

President of Nepal Professor Society and Editor-in-chief at Majdur Dainik Saroj Raj Gosain said, "Any sector of the country cannot be managed without the proper management of the social sector. It is important that every citizen has proper knowledge of social sciences."
