Vice-President Pun draws government's attention to journalists switching profession
KATHMANDU: Vice-president Nanda Bahadur Pun has said that the government should pay attention to the increasing trend of Nepali journalists switching profession.
Inaugurating the sixth national congress of Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Journalists (FONIJ) in Kathmandu on Friday, Vice-president Pun said, "Journalists are compelled to change their profession and go abroad due to financial issues, this should draw government's attention."
On the same occasion, VP also said that media has an important role to lead the country on the way to development.
Speaking in the same programme, Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Banskota complained that media sector has witnessed irresponsibility in the recent days, so FNJ and other concerned bodies should act on making it responsible and decent.
Over 300 delegates are attending the Congress which will conclude on Saturday.
