Visit by Sino delegation

A 14-member Chinese delegation led by Ma Zebi, vice-chairman of the People’s Congress of Tibet — autonomous region of China, here at the invitation of the government today called on the Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Durga Shrestha. Speaking after the meeting, Shrestha pointed out the common interest of both countries on various issues as well as continued Chinese assistance and goodwill for the development of Nepal. She expressed hope that existing cooperation between the two countries would continue. The foreign delegation leader, Zebi spoke about the goodwill of Nepal for China and expressed hope that peace would return to Nepal. She also hoped that the current problems would be solved under the leadership of King Gyanendra. Highlighting the purpose of her visit, Zebi said the visit was aimed at boosting ties between Nepal and China as well as strengthening the bond between Tibetan and Nepali women.
