Vote counting yet to resume in Changunarayan Municipality
BHAKTAPUR: The vote counting at Changunarayan Municipality that was halted because of dispute among the political parties is yet to resume.
An all-party meeting held on Sunday could not hammer out the dispute following the difference between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.
Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur, Drona Pokharel, has said that the parties have finally agreed to write to the Election Commission about the problem and move ahead based on the EC's direction.
The NC has demanded that the votes of ward no. 2 and 3 be recounted while the UML is of the view to recount the ballot papers from all 1 to 4 wards, a leader participating in the meeting shared.
However, the voters eagerly awaiting the result chanted slogans demanding immediate resumption of the vote counting.
Assistant Returning Officer of Changunarayan Municipality Rajendra Wagle said that there was no legal provision of the recount in the result announced areas and the dissatisfied groups should move the court for the same.
