Water distribution schedule in valley

Kathmandu, June 12:

The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) today made public the water distribution schedule for the Kathmandu valley.

The KUKL has divided the valley into 11 sections to be handled by separate divisions — Kamaladi, Tripureshwor, Baneshwor, Mahankal Chaur, Chhetrapati (Ward 15), Chetrapati, Maharajgunj, Thimi, Kirtipur, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur.

The KUKL has made arrangements in such a way that people will get water once in five, four, three or two days in Kathmandu.

Residents of Ba-hiti in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15 will get water once in seven days for 45 minutes, while residents of Karpurdhara will get water once in six days.

In Kiritpur and Thimi (except Shiva Nagar and Gatthaghar), water will be distributed twice a day. Bhaktapur will get water once a day and Lalitpur on alternative days.

KUKL deputy director general Gyanesh Nanda Bajracharya said the current schedule is complicated and could not be made simpler owing to technical hitches.

“Those who live near the sources of water will get more water while those at the farthest will get less water,” he said, adding that around 900 vaults will regulate the water distribution system.
