Winter in Ktm valley gets colder with temperature dipping to 1.6°c; -7°c recorded in Jumla
KATHMANDU: As December is rounding up to end, winter is getting colder with temperature dropping significantly all over the country.
The minimum temperature in Kathmandu valley was recorded at 1.6 degrees Celsius today. This is the lowest temperature in the valley this year.
Earlier on Thursday, the minimum temperature of Kathmandu Valley was 2.2 degrees Celsius.
Department of Hydrology and Meteorology shared that this winter is colder compared to last year.
The minimum temperature of Kathmandu Valley was 3 degrees Celsius on December 18 last year.
Meteorologist Barun Poudel said that the minimum temperature has gone up and down due to the 'seasonal effect'. "The minimum temperature of Kathmandu Valley will remain 1-2 degrees Celsius for few days if any new seasonal system does not develop," added Poudel.
With the fall in mercury, the Valley has been experiencing chilling cold. Despite the sunny days, its dwellers have been experiencing chilling cold in the mornings and evenings.s
Kathmandu's maximum temperature, on the other hand, is 18 degrees Celsius, shared Meteorological Forecasting Division.
Meanwhile, Jumla recorded the lowest temperature of minus 7.0 degrees Celsius today. Its maximum was reported to be 15 degree.
