YCL not behind anarchy, says Pun
Kathmandu, May 24:
President of the Maoist-aligned Young Communist League (YCL) Ganeshman Pun today said that his organisation had not been involved in any “anarchic” and “unruly” activities. The YCL will involve itself in constructive and works and dedicate itself to the service of the people, he said.
Briefing the press on decisions made at the two-day-long central committee meeting of the YCL, Pun said a seven-member monitoring committee has been formed under the coordination of YCL general secretary Dilip Prajapati to investigate the alleged high-handedness of the YCL, strengthen its organisational structure and provide ideological support to it.
“Our organisation has not been involved in any activities that are detrimental to the entire peace process. Maoist chairman Prachanda gave us a general instruction to mend our ways and it was not aimed at any specific cases,” Pun said, demanding immediate release of his cadres held by police in Kanchanpur and elsewhere.
The recent activities in Bardiya, Dhangadi and Dang districts were not carried out by our organisation as has been reported in the media, he said. “Freed Kamaiyas carried out the activities to protest police high-handedness.”
