KATHMANDU: A youth has been arrested on charge of torturing one of his female friends by posting salacious messages mentioning her name and contact number on the social media.

Krishna Urau (25) from Simariya-8 of Sunsari district, currently residing in Koteshwor, KMC-35, was arrested by a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division, police said.

The man had resorted to the victim’s character assassination to settle personal disputes with her, police claimed.

The suspect has been handed over to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigations and actions as per the Electronic Transaction Act, 2008.
