Youth held for swindling 11 unemployed persons with job offers
KATHMANDU: A man was arrested for swindling people under the pretense of giving them online jobs, from Teku of Kathmandu, on Monday.
The arrestee has been identified as Rambir Kumar Ray aka Ryan Ray (26) of Jamuniya VDC-2, Sarlahi.
Ray was found to have swindled 11 persons of Rs 16,000 each, offering them jobs at International IT Nepal Pvt Ltd he would operate near Kalanki Temple, the Metropolitan Police Crime Division said in a statement today.
According to the victims, they had responded to a classified advertisement issued by the company for online jobs before they found that they were cheated.
They had got the jobs at the company, but were not paid in the first three months of work.
When they asked for their pay after three months, Ray avoided all the contacts with them.
After six months passed without getting a single penny, they had filed a complaint against him seeking action.
Meanwhile, he has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku, for further investigation and action.
