BEAUTY QUEEN DIARIES
Priyanka Thapaliya, Miss Nepal USA 2015 visits the country to help victims of the earthquake. She shared her future plans and more with TGIF
How are you making an impact with your title as Miss Nepal USA 2015?
With funds collected at the pageant, we are working on rebuilding Nepal. This includes long term sustainable development projects related to children’s education and health.
How fruitful was your visit to Nepal?
I got a chance to visit different areas affected by the earthquake and support the victims. It helped me gain insight into which aspects to prioritise for our project.
Do you plan on setting in the US or coming back to the county?
For now, I am living in USA with my family but I have plans to frequently visit Nepal for development projects. In the future I am also looking forward to open a street dog care house in Nepal.
What did you learn from the beauty pageant?
The ultimate goal of every beauty pageant is to build self confidence; you get to find your inner self. Also It’s a great platform to represent your country.
What’s next: Modelling or acting?
Right now it’s neither modelling nor acting. My priority is to actively participate in social work and focus on my project to rebuild Nepal.
My day starts at 6 am. I go to college and then to work till 4 pm. After work, I try to work on my assignments. In my free time I go out with friends for a movie and bowling. I am interested in cooking so I experiment a lot in the kitchen.
A movie that best describes you...
The movie that best describes me is ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ because my love life might not always be neat, but that doesn’t stop me from falling in love.
