KATHMANDU, JANUARY 28
For enthusiasts of metrical poetry, Paleti is set to feature poet Bhushita Vasistha in its upcoming edition. Nearly seven years ago, Bhushita also delivered a metrical poetry recital on the same platform.
In a statement, Nepalaya described metrical poetry as a sophisticated literary form distinguished by its rhythmic harmony and musical resonance. Historically, lyrical poetry was regarded as the dominant literary tradition worldwide. In contemporary times, however, the genre has largely survived among a small group of rhythm-loving literary connoisseurs.
Paleti has long served as a vibrant platform committed to preserving Nepal's indigenous musical and poetic traditions. Nepali metrical poetry-still awaiting wider recognition-remains a rich repository of rhythmic beauty, aesthetic elegance, and literary depth.
For this year's edition, Bhushita announced that her recital will be structured around the concept of Nava Rasa (the nine classical aesthetic emotions). She has been preparing by curating poems that reflect diverse emotional tones from a variety of poets. Alongside works by senior and contemporary literary figures, she will also present her own original compositions, the statement reads.
Having grown up in an environment steeped in metrical literature, Bhushita is not only a performer but also a scholar deeply engaged with the philosophical and theoretical foundations of metrical poetry.
"Paleti has always been a sacred poetic stage for me. I have never felt fully worthy of its legacy-neither in the past nor now. Yet, this association has strengthened my devotion to poetic practice. If I can express even a fraction of my gratitude, this poetic spring will feel meaningful," Bhushita said.
For Paleti admirers worldwide who cannot attend in person at Nepalaya's 'R' Hall, live-viewing options have been arranged via television, phone, and online streaming. The program will be available under a pay-per-view model through Paleti's official website.
According to the statement, the Chhanda-Paleti performances are scheduled for the evenings of January 30 and 31 at Nepalaya's 'R' Hall in Kalikasthan. Tickets and live-stream access can be booked through www.paleti.com.np
