KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 4

Nepalaya, the publishing house, has released a collection of biographies of four pioneering women who have significantly influenced Nepal's national life, presented as children's stories.

In a press statement, Nepalaya announced that the biographies, authored by Luja Mathema, encompass the lives of tourism pioneer Ambica Shrestha, legal expert Sapana Pradhan Malla, Everest summiteer Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, and Buddhist nun-singer Ani Choying Dolma.

During the book launch, Samaira, the daughter of author Luja Mathema, presented the volumes, leading to the formal unveiling of the collection by the featured women or their representatives. The late Ambica Shrestha and Pasang Lhamu Sherpa were represented by their daughters, Sangita and Dawa, respectively.

Luja Mathema, a writer with a background in International Relations and Gender Development Studies from the London School of Economics, has introduced a series of narrative children's biographies titled Indomitable Women. This collection marks the inaugural phase of her project, highlighting the lives of four groundbreaking Nepali women.

"Just as our grandparents captivated us with stories of their experiences and the lives of remarkable individuals," Mathema remarks, "I was inspired by this tradition to chronicle the stories of Nepali women."

According to the statement, these four books, available in both English and Nepali versions, are now offered in major bookstores nationwide.

Additionally, readers worldwide can purchase both e-books and physical copies through Thuprai.com (www.thuprai.com) and Amazon.com (www.amazon.com). Priced at NPR 2,800, this collection is designed to engage young readers with its compelling and richly illustrated content.
