Journo Nepal’s new book launched

KATHMANDU: Senior journalist Kishore Nepal’s new book Media: Theories, Sources and Practices was launched by Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group on May 10.

Nepal, who has books like Mero Samaya, Kantipur Gatha, Patal and Saharko Katha to his name, has described the history of journalism and currents trends in Nepali media in his latest work.

Professor Rishikesh Dahal, who is also a journalist, said, “Nepal is like a university with regards to understanding media. The book is helpful to those who want to understand quantity of Nepali media and the political scenario.”

However, senior journalist Narayan Wagle pointed out that the book does not provide critical approach to various national and political events, and lacked facts to support the author’s opinions.

He called the book “a continuation of Nepal’s previous works”. He added, “The content seems to be a copy-paste of his previous works. But it is beautifully delivered in simple a language.”

Professor P Kharel also agreed the book had been written in a very simple language.

Accepting all the praise and criticism, Nepal stated, “I don’t think the book will be limited to the first edition. I hope it to be printed till the eighth

edition.”
