KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 14
A special programme featuring satsang, aarti, meditation and celebration will be organised in the Capital on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
The event, themed around the science of meditation and knowledge attributed to Lord Shiva, is being hosted by Samarthguru Sangh Nepal at Alfa Beta Complex, Buddhanagar, on Falgun 3 (February 15) from 4 pm to 6 pm.
According to Manju Sharma, President and National Co-ordinator at the Samarthguru Sangh Nepal, the programme aims to introduce participants to what is described in spiritual traditions as the "science of meditation" gifted by Lord Shiva to humanity. The discourse highlights the belief that knowledge arises from meditation, and that inner awareness, rather than external information, leads to deeper spiritual realisation.
The event does not intend to influence followers but rather to shed light on Lord Shiva's message to humanity and the meditation practices said to guide individuals toward "Shivatva" - the realisation of the divine consciousness within, Sharma added.
The programme will also reflect on the 112 meditation techniques traditionally attributed to Lord Shiva, which are regarded in certain spiritual texts as pathways to heightened awareness and inner transformation.
As part of the Maha Shivaratri observance, the gathering will include guided meditation, devotional aarti and celebratory elements.
Meanwhile, the organisation has also announced a three-day series titled "Prem Pragya" (Love & Wisdom) scheduled for February 16–18 in Kathmandu. The series will focus on living in the frequency of love, cultivating a love-centred lifestyle, and exploring the experiential relationship between love and meditation. Acharya Darsan will facilitate the sessions.
Maha Shivaratri, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is widely observed across Nepal with prayers, fasting, meditation and temple visits.
