KATHMANDU: A talented bunch of 42 aspiring and professional designers are ready to take the runaway of Ruslan The Himalayan Times TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2017. The event which is scheduled to be held from April 5 to 8 will showcase an array of exceptional designs by these creative minds. Eighteen models will showcase their

exclusive Spring-Summer 2017 collection on the ramp.

To add more glam to the designers’ clothes, some of our well-known celebrities will be gracing the runway as showstoppers —  Priyanka Karki, Swastima Khadka, Jyotsna Yogi, Malina Joshi, Nagma Shrestha to name a few. Furthermore, there will be some surprise guests as showstoppers on one of the days in the four-day event.

The designs, on the other hand, will not only be for the models and showstoppers. The attendees can purchase the outfits at the after show sales. One of the driving factors behind this sale is to connect the designers with potential buyers. Also a certain amount from the proceeds will be going to Maiti Nepal.

There will be an after party where you will rub shoulders with the who’s who of the Capital.

Royal Fusion

Theme: Queen

In just a short span of time, Khusbu Rana has made a great impression with her mind-blowing designs. Rana started her career as a designer in 2014, and currently owns a boutique — VIVID. She is all set to step up her game in the league of prominent fashion designers with her Spring-Summer 2017 collection.

Your past experience with TGIF Nepal Fashion Week and expectations this year

I have participated in the event before as a student designer; the experience was overwhelming.  Now I will be representing my own company VIVID. It is one of the best platforms for designers to showcase their talents and earn probable customers. I am confident that the event will be a grand success.

Your collection

My collection is inspired by haute couture and it will be a blend of ethnic and western/modern look. I will be showcasing ball gowns, fishtail gowns, lehengas and formal dresses. The fabrics I am using for my collection are silk, raw silk, lycra, and kan kan. I will be encompassing embroidery on my designs to lend an ethnic touch.

Why should clients purchase your collection?

This time I have tried something different from my regular lehengas to gowns with exceptional embroideries. I have designed wearable and affordable gowns with unique designs that will stand out from the crowd.

Antee Gurung’s designs have garnered much praise over the years. The designer has been in the industry for almost five years and runs her only label — Inspire Fashion Studio. She has not only done shows in the country but also showcased her collection overseas.

Your experience with TGIF Nepal Fashion Week and expectations this year

I am very excited to present my collection to a wide audience at the biggest fashion event of the country. I am very ecstatic to tell a story through my designs.

Your collection

My inspiration for this collection is one specific symphony by Beethoven, which has been my favourite since 2005.  I will be displaying exclusive evening wear. As my collection name suggests — Regal Aesthetics, my designs are elegant, feminine and sophisticated. I have encompassed evening wear of various silhouettes such as mermaid, A-line and elaborated. I have played with three different shades — pink, purple and emerald green. As for the fabrics, I have used net and silk. Each piece has its own unique style that has undergone different aspects of sewing, embroidery and manipulation. Also, one can witness the delicate details in my designs.

So far, I am very pleased with my sketches and the concept. My collection has a unique flare. It is classy, effortlessly stylish and has pretty designs.

With more than 14 years of experience in designing, Sushma Singh is no novice when it comes to weaving beautiful outfits. Singh is all set to unveil her latest collection.

Your experience with TGIF Nepal Fashion Week and your expectations this year

I have been associated with the show for a long time and it has been a wonderful journey. It is one of the greatest platforms for designers to flaunt their designs. TGIF Nepal Fashion Week always motivates me to do better. This year I am expecting more praises, love and appreciation from the audience. Also, I am looking forward to attract more

potential buyers.

Your collection

My collection is all about bright and colourful outfits as I draw my inspiration from the Holi festival. I have experimented with different colours and styles and included both eastern and western outfits. This time I have used fabrics such as georgette with colourful hand threadwork. I have used stones such as pearls, sitara and Swarovski to highlight the details and different patterns.

My creations are unique and easy to carry; georgette is very light in comparison to other fabrics.
