KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 16
On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the arrival of democracy in Nepal, a book titled 'Saat Sal Ko Katha' reflecting this significant context has been launched.
The book, originally written in Hindi by Indian author Phanishwar Nath Renu as 'Nepali Kranti-Katha,' has been translated into Nepali by Tulsi Bhattrai and published by Nepalaya under the title 'Saat Sal Ko Katha.'
In a statement today, Nepalaya said, "Phanishwar Nath Renu, the author born 104 years ago in Bihar, India, was an active participant in the Nepali revolution against the Rana regime. Engaging in the movement, he documented his experiences in a reportage style, resulting in the book 'Nepali Kranti-Katha."
During the launch of 'Saat Sal Ko Katha', Bhaskar Gautam, a political scientist and Renu scholar from Biratnagar, highlighted that Renu was a compassionate, humanistic writer who did not differentiate between "this country" and "that country."
"In every work of Renu, humanity and the essence of free existence stand out," Gautam remarked. "From the heights of Chure to the banks of the Ganges, he viewed the lives of people, nature, and culture as shared, transcending the narrow confines of partisan and nationalistic thinking."
Gautam also emphasized that 'Saat Sal Ko Katha' would play an important role in further invigorating Nepali democracy, reads the statement.
The 120-page book 'Saat Sal Ko Katha' is priced at 345 Nepali rupees.
According to the statement, it can be purchased at major bookstores across the country, as well as through the website www.thuprai.com. Additionally, readers worldwide will be able to purchase the book directly from Amazon.
