Nepathya today released a live music video of their all-time hit number 'Yo Jindagani' in their YouTube channel, as the grip of pandemic appears to loosen a little in Nepal.
The live video was recorded during their last concert in 2020 just before the pandemic struck which left people all over the world vulnerable to the coronavirus transmission and adversely affected the global economy.
According to the press release, "The song is an apt release for the time as it meditates upon the transitory nature of happiness and sadness and reminds us not to let adverse situations compromise on our humanity." The song was composed by Shyamsung Tamang, a Pokhara-based musician.
Nepathya's frontman, Amrit Gurung said, "Long before we released the song, we used to sing it among ourselves. Since we loved the song very much, we wanted to re-record it."
Particularly, the lines of the song 'Yo Jindagani, Yo jindagani' have come to become a quintessential part of Nepathya's concerts, driving the audiences to frenzied participation, reads the statement.
The video might be new for new Nepathya audiences, but for those who grew up listening to Gurung's song, it is a cherished memory of the past.
The audio-visuals of the song had been arranged earlier with the footage of reactions from persons with disability from Khagendra Navajeevan Kendra, a Kathmandu based organisation. However, the latest video is a compilation of raw footages from the March 2020 concert, just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
