The show goes on!
KATHMANDU: The Blenders Pride - TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2016 is the most inventive, innovative and receptive fashion event of Nepal. In 2009, when the finest models marched the ramp that was like no other, the fashion industry of Nepal altered drastically. As they walked, matching their steps to the booming music and flaunting the best designs, people in town finally got the real taste of high fashion.
But it all started in 2004 as Nepal Fashion Week. Till 2006 it was organised by IEC and Sunsilk. In 2007, it was organised under the name of Lakme Nepal Fashion week.
But after a gap of one year, in 2009, The Himalayan Times took over the event, thus it was renamed as The Himalayan Times TGIF Nepal Fashion Week.
Initially, it would be a five-day long event where the creations of up to 50 groups of designers would be displayed by some 20 Nepali and Indian models.
Since 2010, it was reduced to the four-day event featuring up to 10 sequences of designers each day. And the professional designers, boutiques and students since the very beginning of this event have been presenting their best creations before the audience.
Since then the event is getting bigger every year. TGIF Nepal Fashion Week has given a push to raise the standards of models in the country and also an opportunity for the creative minds to come out.
But the show does not end there!
The TGIF Nepal Fashion Week has launched many models and designers not only in Nepal but also in the international arena.
It is home to some of the legends in the industry and a stage for rising stars to shine bright in the years to come.
