Travel Escapade for 2016
We make and break New Year resolutions but more often than not we stick to travel resolutions we make for the brand new year. Moin Uddin talks to four eminent personalities who have their travel resolutions in place for 2016.
Rajendra Kumar Khetan, Chairman of Laxmi Bank
I would love to be in UK in 2016, probably because it's the first place that I ever went to as a school boy and since then I am in love with the country. The air, streets, international food and the mix society of UK make me happy which I like the most. This time I am planning to roam around Leicester Square and do some shopping at Austin Reed. Also, I look forward to spending some quality time with friends at Chiquito, Mexican Restaurant.
Ragini Upadhayay Grela, Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Art
The coming year is full of travels for me which will start with my visit to Suzhou Museum, China for my upcoming solo artwork exhibition, on the first week of January. Later in the month I’ll be visiting to Thailand, as I never get enough of it. It’s that one place where I can laze around in the beach while I do some sketches and paintings. I can indulge in scrumptious Thai cuisine and take a walk around in the beach in the evening. As I have a couple of friends in Thailand, I would hangout with them around Ko Samet, Hua Hin, Ko Chang and Phi Phi Islands.
Pratima Rana Pande, President of Alliance Française
My New Year resolution for 2016 would be to go a continent I’ve never been to before– South Africa and enjoy to the fullest. I would like to see the wonderful game reservations like the Kruger National Park and visit Cape Town which I have heard so much about. I would love to eat the local cuisine and visit the vineyards, experience the much talked about wild life and jungle safari and see the gorgeous giraffes, elephants, zebras, lions and the two horned rhinos. I would like to visit Kenya and Tanzania as well which are equally famous for wild life.
Philippe Belhay, General Manager of Hotel Yak and Yeti
In my earlier visit to Bangkok I was taken aback by the fascinating food and its presentation. Well, I would certainly go back there for more in 2016. The city is very clean and boasts of some of the great beaches in the world where I enjoy swimming, sun bathing, and playing volley ball on the beach. Besides these, I am going to do a lot shopping and try out more sea food!
