Adieu Sushil Koirala

KATHMANDU: Major party leaders and members of the public visited the Koirala residence in Maharajgunj and Nepali Congress party office in Sanepa to pay their respects to the deceased Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Tuesday.

According to kin of Koirala, he died of cardiac arrest after suffering from a bout of pneumonia in the wee hours of Tuesday at the age of 76.

Koirala was suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and had been unable to take part in public functions for some days.

He was first kept at Koirala residence and then was taken to the party office. He will be kept at the Dasharath Stadium for public to pay their final tributes to the deceased leader.

He would be cremated at the newly launched electronic crematorium at Pashupati Aryaghat.

A Cabinet meeting on Tuesday has decided to hoist the national flag for three days and declare public holiday tomorrow to mourn the death of Koirala.
