1 killed, 31 injured in Dhading passenger bus collision

DHADING: One person lost his life while 31 others sustained injuries in a bus collision along the Prithvi Highway in Dhading district, Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred when a passenger bus (Ba 7 Kha 5281) en route from Narayangadh to Kathmandu collided head-on with another tourist passenger bus (Ba 1 Pa 977) en route from Kathmandu to Pokhara, at Malinga of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality in the district, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police at Dhading District Police Office, Shyam Kumar Mahato.

The deceased has been identified as Ishwar Bhandari (40) of Piple in Chitwan district. Bhandari was driving the bus headed towards Kathmandu, said police. He succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Gajuri Hospital.

Among the injured, 18 are receiving treatment at Highway Community Hospital in Malekhu while 13 others are undergoing treatment in Gajuri Primary Health Centre.

Vehicular movement at the highway was obstructed for sometime after the incident. However, security personnel have cleared the damaged vehicles and normalised highway operation.
