1 dead, 55 injured in Jaleshwor bus accident
MAHOTTARI: A person died and 55 others were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Jaleshwor, the district headquarters of Mahottari, on Monday.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, but has a tattoo scribbled on his hand which reads Dipendra and Bachiya. The person assumed to be of 24 to 25 years is of fair complexion, according to Janak Bhattarai, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Mahottari.
The bus (Na 2 Kha 8752) was en route to Jaleshwor from Janakpur of Dhanusha when it crashed near the front gate of the Irrigation Office in Jaleshwor-17 at 9:30 am. The speeding bus was carrying at least 60 passengers and crashed when it was giving a passage for another vehicle.
At least 11 passengers who sustained serious injuries have been sent to the Janakpur Zonal Hospital Janakpurdham while 15 others are receiving treatment at the Shanti Community Hospital.
The rest of the injured are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Jaleshwor. The body of the deceased has been kept at the hospital.
