KATHMANDU: A person died and another sustained critical injuries after a bus hit a bike they were riding on at Haripur in Sunsari district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as biker Umesh Mandal (30) of Balahi-5, Saptari district. He breathed his last on the way to a hospital.

The bus (Na 5 Kha 2078) hit the bike (Ba 32 Pa 9920) at around 7 pm yesterday, police informed.

Pillion rider Kamal Mandal (25) was seriously injured in the accident.

He is being treated at District Hospital, Sunsari.

Police have impounded both the vehicles and arrested the bus driver for investigation.
