DHADING: A scooter rider died on the spot and a pillion-rider sustained serious injuries after being hit by a truck ferrying election campaigners at Khakuralhidi in Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-1 in Dhading district on Thursday.

Salyantar Police Post identified the deceased as Ramesh Shrestha of Ranipokhari in Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-1 in the district.

Police said Shrestha was riding a scooter (Ga 13 Pa 3060) when hit by a truck (Ba 3 Kha 3559) carrying election campaigners from Tripurasundari to Salyantar in the area around 6:30 pm today.

The pillion-rider Sunita Shrestha, spouse of Ramesh, who was seriously injured in the incident, was referred to Kathmandu for further treatment after primary treatment at the local health post, police said.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway to sent Sunita to Kathmandu for further treatment, informed the police.
