POKHARA: One person died on the spot and five others including two sustained serious injuries after a jeep skidded off a slippery road at Ratomato danda and fell some 50 metres down into Phewa lake in Pokhara.

Kaski District Police Office identified the deceased as 30-year-old Ram Prasad Rai of Damana Rural Municipality-9 in Bhojpur district.

DSP Khadga Bahadur Khatri said the ill-feted jeep (Ga 1 Ya 879) heading to Pame from Lakeside in Pokhara met with accident at Ratomato danda around 10 pm yesterday.

Among the injured, two are said to be in critical condition, according to police.

Meanwhile the injured victims are undergoing treatment at the Fishtail Hospital in the Lake City.

It has been learned that the youths had gone to Pokhara in search of work.
