1 killed, 5 injured in Nuwakot minitruck accident

BIDUR: A person died and five others were injured when a minitruck they were aboard skidded off the road and fell some 200 metres below, in Thaprek VDC–6 of Nuwakot district on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as local Ganesh Prasad Khatiwada (16) and the critically injured as local Rupesh Nepali, Raj Kumar Tamang and Latho Tamang.

Similarly, Rabindra Tamang of Sundaradevi and driver of the minitruck Umesh Rumba of Panchakanya were also injured in the incident.

All of them are residents of Nuwakot district.

The  incident occurred when the minitruck (Ba 4 Kha 995), returning from Arukharka after it transported sand and other building materials, skidded on the rough terrain and fell off the road last night.

Khatiwada breathed his last on the way to a health facility, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Dev Bahadur Bohora of the District Police Office.

The critically injured are receiving treatment at  Tokha-based Green City Hospital in Kathmandu, police informed.

Meanwhile, police have detained the injured driver for further investigation.
