PALPA: A person died on the spot and six others sustained injuries when a jeep they were travelling in fell below the road in Jyamire of Nisdi Rural Municipality-7 in Palpa district on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Yama Bahadur Gaha (23) of Nisdi-7 in the district.

The Jyamire-bound jeep (Lu 1 Ja 1809) coming from Tansen skidded on the rough road and fell about 100 metres below the road at Sildanda, killing a passenger and injuring six others including the jeep driver yesterday evening, according to the District Police Office (DPO), Palpa.

The injured were rushed to the United Mission Hospital at Tansen in Palpa, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Pandit at the DPO said.

The four wheeler with the capacity of holding 10 passengers and a driver was carrying six local passengers downhill when the accident occurred, the DSP informed. He said the rough road and the soaked surface due to the rainfall about two days ago, might have set off imbalance in the ill-fated jeep.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the case is underway, police added.
