BHOJPUR: One person died and eight others were injured when a bus carrying wedding attendants met with an accident at Dhankuta Municipality-3 along the Koshi Highway on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as bus driver Bijay Lamichhane (30) of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, Sunsari.

Umakanta Paudel (40), Krishna Paudel (60), Pabitra Ojha (35) and Shekhar Paudel (23) of Dhankuta Municipality-3, Dhirendra Mishra (36) of Dhankuta Municipality-5, Yuvaraj Subedi (40) of Murtidhunga-8 of Dhankuta, Tekendra Ojha (24) of Dhankuta Municipality-5, and Yagyanidhi Paudel (38) of Hattikharka-6 of Dhankuta were injured in the incident.

According to the District Police Office, Dhankuta, the incident occurred when the bus (Ko 1 Kha 2932) heading towards Itahari of Sunsari from Jitpur of Dhankuta fell some 100 metres down the road at Dhat in Dhankuta Municipality-3 at around 8 am today.

The injured have been taken to the District Hospital for treatment.
