The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy conditions with chances of rainfall and thunderstorms in several parts of the country today under the influence of a western low-pressure system and local winds.
According to the DHM's 24-hour forecast issued at 8:00 am Thursday, hilly and mountainous regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces will remain generally cloudy, while similar conditions are expected in the hills and mountains of other provinces. The rest of the country will witness partly cloudy skies.
There is a likelihood of moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, windstorms and hail at a few places in Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini and Gandaki provinces. Light rainfall or snowfall with thunder and lightning is also possible at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, and in the Terai areas of Madhesh and Sudurpashchim provinces.
For tonight, the DHM has predicted generally cloudy weather in the hilly and mountainous regions of Karnali, Sudurpashchim, Gandaki, Bagmati and Koshi provinces, while the remaining Terai areas will be partly cloudy.
Moderate rainfall or snowfall with thunder, lightning, windstorms and hail is likely at some places in Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, and at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces. Isolated rainfall or snowfall is also possible in the mountainous areas of Lumbini and Bagmati provinces.
Meanwhile, Kathmandu Valley is expected to experience partly cloudy weather during the day with maximum temperatures ranging between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius. The weather will remain mainly fair at night, with minimum temperatures likely to hover between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius.
