10 flood displaced families receive new houses in Saptari
RAJBIRAJ: Ten families, whose houses had been swept away by the floods of August 2017 in Saptari district, are elated after new houses were handed over to them.
The recipient families of Tilathi-Koiladi Rural Municiapality-1 and Mahadeva Rural Municipality-5 have received newly constructed zinc-roofed shelters in place of straw-bale houses that were swept away in last year's flooding.
Social worker Krit Sharma of Mahadeva Rural Municipality took personal initiative to construct these houses for families with weak financial condition who were displaced by the floods. With his personal fund and support of Nepali friends living abroad, he began the construction of shelters for the flood victims through 'Hamro Samaj Nepal' on October 19, 2017.
After the completion of construction works at a cost of around Rs 2.02 million, the newly constructed houses were handed over to the displaced families, on Monday, amid a programme.
On the occassion, Sharma expressed his satisfaction on being able to support the displaced families.
Likewise, ward chair Dineshwar Mishra said, the support extended to the flood displaced families was exemplary.
