100 days of Tarai agitation
Rautahat, November 23
On the 100th day of the ongoing Madhes agitation, United Democratic Madhesi Front today paid tributes to those martyred in the agitation and held demonstrations at different places in the district.
To pay homage to the 48 persons killed in police firing during the agitation, the front observed five minutes of silence at Rautahat district headquarters, Gaur.
After holding the tribute-paying ceremony at Madhes Kranti Chowk in Gaur, the front’s cadres chanted anti-government slogans and rallied through different parts of the town to Miteri Bridge on the border, where they participated in a sit-in.
The rally led by local Bharat Sah of Gaur-2 had a huge turnout and was peaceful.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Socialist Forum leader and the front’s coordinator Ram Niwas Yadav pledged to continue the agitation.
“It’s too much that the government, instead of addressing the demands of the agitators, is shooting people. So, the agitation won’t stop until the government agrees to fulfil our demands,” he said.
