104 rescued from Holiya VDC

Nepalgunj, July 27

As many as 104 flood victims at Chaupheri of Holiya VDC were rescued in Banke today.

The victims were rescued by a Nepali Army chopper. They were taken to safer places today afternoon, said Chief District Officer Rabi Lal Panth. CDO Panth also confirmed that life was gradually turning normal with the water level coming down in the swollen Rapti River.

He also claimed that no house had collapsed and no human casualty was recorded so far.

The flood victims also have been provided with necessary relief, according to CDO Panth.

Various localities of Holiya, Phattepur, Gangapur, Matehiya and Betahani, among other places have been inundated with waters from the swollen Rapti River.

Wards no 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Holiya VDC have been hit the worst.

As the flood hit the area during day time and Flood Measuring Centre in Kusum sounded the alarm after the water reached the danger level, lives were saved.
