11 injured in Tanahun bus accident

TANAHUN: At least 11 persons were injured when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Gunadi in Jamune VDC-3 of Tanahun on Wednesday.

The injured have been identified as bus driver SurajĀ  Kumar Shrestha (40) of Shuklagandaki Municipality-3, Tanahun; conductor Upendra Prasad Dotel (20) of Bairiyabirta-7, Parsa district; Sulav Bista (22) of Bharatpur Municipality-12, Chitwan; Ganesh Gurung (33) of Talbesi, Kaski; Jokhmaya Gurung (60) of Lekhnath Municipality-8, Kaski; Yam Khadka (48) and Shriyanka Khadka (15) of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City-7; Narayan Prasad Pandey (47) of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City-12; Sun Bahadur Gurung (40) and Samjhana Gurung of Lekhnath Municipality-1.

Police said that the incident occurred when the bus (Na 5 Kha 6447) heading towards Birgunj from Pokhara skidded off the road and fell some 15 metres down.

Of the injured, Narayan Prasad is said to be in critical condition.

He is receiving treatment at the Pokhara-based Manipal Teaching Hospital.

Police said that other injured are undergoing treatment at the Damauli-based Ratnahari Hospital.

The cause behind the accident is suspected to be over speeding.
