11 Maoists arrested

Damak, November 6:

A patrolling team of security forces yesterday arrested nine Communist Party of Nepal-Maosit cadres from Sunmai of Shantinagar village development committee ward number one in Jhapa district, said high-level security sources.

The names and ranks of the arrested Maoists are yet to be disclosed.

The Maoists were arrested while they were collecting donations at Sunmai area along the Mechi highway, a security official said.

According to him, the security forces have seized a pistol, a motorbike, donation pads and some cash from them.

Meanwhile, Darjeeling police arrested two Nepali Maoists in Darjeeling on Friday.

Binod Magar and Kanchan Rai of Ilam district were produced before the court yesterday to seek its order for detention until investigation, said Rajiv Mishra, Superintendent of Police in Darjeeling police.
