Over 11,000 tourists visit Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve
INARUWA: A total of 11,252 tourists visited the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve (KTWR), one of the renowned tourist destinations in the eastern region in the past one year.
As many as 11,002 visitors were domestic tourists, 54 from SAARC countries and 196 were foreigners who visited the wildlife reserve in fiscal year 2073/074, according to protection officer Shyam Kumar Shah. The highest number of tourists visiting the KTWR located in west Kushaha of Koshi Rural Municipality in Saptari district, was in the month of Baisakh and lowest in the month of Poush.
In the same period, the KTWR earned Rs 785,100 in revenue collected from the visitors.
The KTWR is famous for wild water buffaloes, wild elephants and variety of birds among other mammals inhabiting the area of the reserve.
