12 girls rescued from Indian circus

Bhairahawa, January 15:

Nepal Child Welfare Organisation (NCWO) today rescued 12 more Nepali teenage girls from the New Rajkamal Circus based in Kushinagar of India. Six teenage girls including two girls were rescued yesterday and brought to Bhairahawa and 12 teenage girls rescued today will be brought to Bhairahawa tomorrow, said NCWO.

In a press meet, NCWO said all girls rescued today are from Makawanpur. President of the NCWO, Dilip Bhattarai said, “Rescued girls are in mental and physical distress.”

NCWO claimed that its officials, who were on a rescue mission in India, were attacked by Indian police and criminals.

“Indian police even resorted to lathi-charge to abort our mission,” Kumar Giri of NCWO said in the press meet.
