125 vacancies in Province 6

KATHMANDU: Chief Minister of Province 6 Mahendra Bahadur Shahi said some local levels of Province 6 were being run solely by elected representatives. “We don’t even have ward secretaries in local levels,” Shahi told THT, adding that local levels are in disarray due to lack of sufficient staff.

According to Shahi, provincial governments were operating on less than half their staff strength. He said though Province 6 should have 215 civil servants, only 90 had reported for duty. He added that Province 6 didn’t even have law secretary, hampering drafting of bills. “Structures of provincial government cannot be set up due to lack of laws,” said Shahi.

He added that the principal secretary of Province 6 would complain to Chief Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi regarding staff crunch.
