Police have arrested 20 Ugandan women from Thamel on charges of engaging in indecent behaviour and soliciting money from tourists in public areas.

The arrests were made from the Fire Chowk area in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26, where the women were allegedly approaching domestic and foreign visitors and engaging in inappropriate bargaining.

According to police, their activities caused disturbance to tourists and the general public by obstructing movement and creating nuisance in the busy tourist hub.

Spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Police Range, Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, said the women are currently under investigation at the Police Circle, Lainchaur, on charges related to indecent conduct.
