13 indicted for Kaski NC leader’s murder

POKHARA: The District Attorney Office on Wednesday charged 13 suspects of Nepali Congress district leader Ramji Paudel’s murder.

Among the 13 suspects indicted in the case, seven were allegedly involved in the murder and remaining six helped them to abscond, according to the District Attorney Yogaraj Dhakal.

Paudel was found murdered on August 13.

Din Bandhu Baral, Shresthedar of Kaski District Court, said that the hearing would begin on Thursday.

Lekhanath Municipality President of the party, Rajendra Mani Lamichhane, however, was not accused in the case as police failed to gather evidences against him. Police, hence, released Lamichhane on Wednesday.

The FIR filed by kin of the victim, however, had also named Lamichhane among others.

“According to the investigation and other suspects’ statement, Lamichhane was found innocent. Even Paudel’s wife did not speak anything against him,” said Dhakal.

Two Congress leaders, Manoj Gurung and Narahari Tiwari had sustained injuries in the incident.
