14 women victimised from evil social practices

KATHMANDU: At least fourteen women have been victimised due to incidents related to evil social practices in the period of four months.

In a quarterly report, from mid-August to mid-December, released today by the Kuriti Antya Samaj, an organisation fighting against evil social practices, stated that the women were victimised by different violence including child marriage, untouchability, and witchery.

Samaj Secretary Loksari Kunwar said that although more women might have suffered from such incidents, all the incidents were not reported due to the Tarai agitation and border blockade.

The report was based on the news published in different Nepali newpapers including Kantipur, Nagarik, Rajdhani, Gorkhapatra, Naya Patrika, Annapurna and Nepal Samacharpatra.
