1,400 opium plants destroyed in Ilam

ILAM:  Around 1,400 opium plants have been destroyed by security personnel in Ilam recently.

Around 600 narcotic plants cultivated in two ropanis of a land of Gauri Prasad Chaulagain (50), a resident of Newar Gaun, Phuyatappa-1, have been destroyed.

Similarly, police have also destroyed 800 opium plants cultivated by Bal Bihari Kafle (58) of the same area.

However, the duo are at large, police confirmed.

Cultivation, processing and trade of opium are illegal in Nepal.
